By default every message a connected AI app (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Hermes or any MCP client) submits waits in the AI Sends queue for a person to approve: this is the "Two-step" send posture. An organization manager can switch that off for a chosen app. Two settings work together in Settings → AI Assistant (MCP): the organization's Send posture (Draft only, Two-step or Autonomous), and, per connected app, an "Autonomous sending" switch with a typed confirmation. With the posture on Autonomous and the switch on for an app, that app's text messages and scheduled text messages go out without approval; the server still applies the organization's rules at send time (quiet hours, recency and the other send policies). Media sends from an AI app are never autonomous and always wait for approval. Changing the app's access level, or reconnecting the app from the AI side, turns autonomous sending back off, so it must be enabled again deliberately. An API key gets the same power only when it holds the autonomous-send scope. Weave's own sends are different: whatever the posture, a message Weave submits always waits for approval in AI Sends. There is no single org-wide switch that makes every app autonomous at once; it is per app, on purpose.
How to use
- As an organization manager, open Settings → AI Assistant (MCP).
- Under Send posture choose Autonomous and confirm (this cancels AI sends still awaiting approval).
- In the Connected AI apps list pick the app, set its access level to "Assistant with sends", switch on "Autonomous sending" and type the confirmation.
- Repeat for each app that should send on its own.
- To go back, switch the app off or set the posture to Two-step.
