Choosing the Right AI Tool

Spun has five ways to get answers out of your chats. They all read the same messages and follow the same privacy settings. They differ in when they run, where you read the result and what they cost.

  • Weave answers a question you ask inside Spun, right now.
  • Connected AI (Spun MCP) lets ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant read your Spun workspace and answer in its own window.
  • Chat digests keep a standing question answered, refreshed when you ask or once a day.
  • Group Intelligence watches the WhatsApp groups you choose as messages arrive and alerts you when something matters.
  • The MCP Dashboard shows what the other tools have prepared on one screen. It runs no AI of its own.

The short version: ask with Weave or your own assistant, repeat with a digest, watch with Group Intelligence, and look at the MCP Dashboard.

A sixth tool, Missions, is coming soon and not available yet. Where the five tools above answer and report, a mission will act: it drafts follow-ups and scheduled posts over days and waits for your approval on each one.

At a glance

ToolRuns whenWhere you read itWhat it costs
WeaveWhen you askThe Weave tab in SpunAI tokens for each question. Advanced quality uses more than Standard
Connected AIWhen you ask your assistantChatGPT, Claude or another assistantIts reads count toward your plan's Connected AI allowance. The assistant's own thinking runs on its own subscription
Chat digestsWhen you press Refresh, or once a daySpun Tools > Insights > Digests, a chat's side panel, the Daily Summary, the MCP Dashboard, your connected assistantAI tokens for each refresh, based on the messages it reads. Reading the stored answer is free
Group IntelligenceAs messages arrive in the groups a monitor watchesSignals in the Intelligence tab, alerts in Spun Chat or WhatsAppAI tokens for the messages a monitor analyzes. Keyword-only and staff response time monitors use none
MCP DashboardWhen you open itSpun Tools > Insights > IntelligenceFree to open. Refreshing a digest from it is an ordinary digest refresh
Missions (coming soon, not available yet)Over days, until the job is done or you stop itSet up in Weave; each draft appears in its chat for your approvalDrafting a message will use AI tokens. Scheduled group posts will use no AI

A digest on a daily schedule and every running monitor each take one of your plan's workflow slots. Weave questions, Connected AI reads, on-demand digests and the dashboard take none.

Strengths and limits

Weave

Good at

  • Exact numbers and tables across your history, because it can query your workspace directly.
  • Staff and group activity reports, voice-note questions and group membership questions.
  • Taking action in Spun with one confirmation, and setting up a check-in rule from the conversation.
  • Turning a question you ask often into a daily digest: after some answers it offers "Want this every morning?".

Keep in mind

  • It answers when you ask. The answer is not kept current afterwards; use a digest for that.
  • Each question uses AI tokens.
  • It looks back over the time range you pick, 24 hours by default, and only sees messages Spun holds: everything since your number was linked, plus the recent history WhatsApp handed over at link time.

Connected AI (Spun MCP)

Good at

  • Working inside the assistant you already use, next to your email, calendar, files and the web.
  • Drafting in your own style, since the writing happens in your assistant.
  • Reading chats, groups, contacts, staff and group reports, and your digests' stored answers.
  • Creating and editing digests, and listing and updating Group Intelligence signals.

Keep in mind

  • It reads messages page by page, so exact counts across thousands of messages take many calls and can run into your assistant's own limits. Weave is the better tool for that.
  • Its reads count toward your plan's Connected AI allowance.
  • It cannot set up Group Intelligence monitors or check-in rules. Set those up in Spun, or ask Weave for a check-in rule.
  • It sees only what its key's permissions allow, and anything it sends follows your organization's AI send settings.

Chat digests

Good at

  • An answer that is ready before you ask, with each claim citing the exact messages it came from.
  • Reuse: one digest shows up in Spun Tools > Insights > Digests, the chat's side panel, the Daily Summary, the MCP Dashboard and your connected assistant.
  • Predictable cost: the app shows a cost estimate and about how many messages a month it will analyze before you create it.
  • A digest you refresh by hand takes no workflow slot.

Keep in mind

  • It changes only when it refreshes, by hand or once a day. It does not alert you as messages arrive.
  • One refresh reads at most 500 messages. A very busy set of chats runs behind the newest messages; choosing fewer chats helps, a bigger plan does not.
  • A digest covers one chat, up to 25 chats and groups you pick, or all chats.
  • Refreshes count toward your monthly allowance of messages analyzed, shown on the pricing page.

Group Intelligence

Good at

  • Watching your groups as messages arrive and alerting you right away, once a day or once a week, in Spun Chat or WhatsApp.
  • Turning what it finds into signals you can review, assign, snooze or dismiss, with an AI draft reply when you want one.
  • Keyword triggers. A keyword-only monitor uses no AI, and in an AI monitor a keyword match is always checked, even in a very busy group.
  • Staff response time monitors, which use no AI and no tokens.
  • Scan history, which looks back over a range of recent days you choose.

Keep in mind

  • It watches WhatsApp groups only, not one-to-one chats. For a one-to-one chat, use a digest.
  • Each running monitor takes a workflow slot, and AI monitors use AI tokens.
  • In a group with more than about 500 messages a day, a monitor reads a sample of the messages above that. Messages that match one of its keywords are always read.
  • It looks for new messages from the moment it starts. Use Scan history for the recent past.

MCP Dashboard

Good at

  • One screen for your digests, active signals, work awaiting your review, conversations needing follow-up, tasks and today's group check-ins.
  • Opening it never spends AI tokens: every card shows stored results.
  • Each person chooses and orders their own cards, and managers can set a default layout for the team.

Keep in mind

  • It shows only what the other tools have prepared. To see more on it, set up a digest or a monitor.
  • Refreshing a digest from the dashboard is an ordinary refresh, and the button shows the token cost first.

Putting them together

A typical setup for a team that answers customers in WhatsApp groups:

  1. A Group Intelligence monitor on the customer groups, looking for leads and requests, with immediate alerts.
  2. A staff response time monitor on the same groups, so nobody waits too long.
  3. A daily digest such as "What is still open?" over your key chats, added to the Daily Summary.
  4. The MCP Dashboard as the screen you open each morning.
  5. Weave for one-off questions and exact numbers, and your own assistant when you are already working in ChatGPT or Claude and want your chats next to everything else.

Coming soon: Missions

Not available yet

Missions is in development. Nothing in this section is available in Spun today, and the details below may change before it ships.

A mission is a standing job you give Weave in plain words: follow up on quotes nobody answered, post a list to your groups every few hours, confirm tomorrow's appointments. Weave proposes the rules, you confirm or change them in words, and the mission keeps working for days. Every message it drafts appears in its chat and waits for your approval.

How it will compare

  • Digests and Group Intelligence report; a mission acts. A digest tells you which quotes got no reply. A mission follows up on them, one approved message at a time.
  • Weave answers now; a mission keeps going. You set a mission up in Weave, and it carries on after you close the conversation.
  • Your own assistant can help. A connected AI will be able to add what it knows from your email or CRM before a follow-up goes out, for example that the customer already said "I'll decide next Tuesday".
  • You stay in control. A mission stops when the customer replies or asks not to be contacted, steps back when you write to them yourself, and only sends inside the hours you allow.

Example: following up on open quotes

You: Follow up on the quotes I sent this week that nobody answered.

Weave: I found 4 quotes you sent since Sunday with no reply yet. Suggested rules:

  • up to 2 follow-ups, 3 days apart
  • stop as soon as the customer replies, and tell you
  • stop when the quote expires, or after 14 days
  • send only during business hours, in the customer's own time zone
  • you approve every message before it goes out

[ Start ] [ Change something ] [ Cancel ]

You: Make it 4 days apart, then start.

Weave: Done. The first drafts will be ready tomorrow morning, each one in its chat for you to approve.

Example: the draft in the chat

Quote follow-up - 1 of 2
Why now: quote #1047 sent Monday, no reply for 3 days
Sends: today 09:30 her time, after you approve

Hi Maria, just checking you got the quote for the two units
($2,400, valid until 10/30). Happy to answer any questions.
  James, Northside Cooling

[ Approve ] [ Edit ] [ Reject ] [ Pause this chat ]

If Maria replies first, the draft is cancelled and Weave tells you she answered.

Example: asking how it is going

You: How are my quote follow-ups doing?

Weave:

  • Priya Shah replied Thursday 11:20, "can you do $2,200?", waiting for you
  • Maria Lopez: first follow-up sent Thursday; the next one goes Monday if she does not reply
  • +1 555 0188 ~Tom: a draft is waiting for your approval

You will also be able to pause or stop in words: "pause all the follow-ups until Sunday", or "stop following up with Maria, she's not interested".

Example: posting to groups on a schedule

You: Post our open-capacity list to the groups labelled "Agents" every 4 hours during work hours, a minute or two apart.

A scheduled group post uses no AI: it posts the same list on a timetable, skips a round when the list has not changed, and keeps inside the sending limits of your WhatsApp line. When the plan would go over those limits, Weave says so before you start and offers fewer rounds or fewer groups.
