Phone Calls (VoIP)

Spun includes built-in VoIP calling — make and receive phone calls directly from the app with recording, transcription, and speaker separation.

Making a call

  1. Open any chat or contact
  2. Click the phone icon in the chat header
  3. Call connects via VoIP
  4. Use in-call controls: mute, hold, record, transfer

Call recording

Enable recording

Settings → Phone Calls → Recording:

  • Auto-record all calls — every call is recorded
  • Manual only — click "Record" button during call
  • Announcement — play "this call is being recorded" message

After the call

  • Recording saved to Call History
  • AI transcript generated automatically (if enabled)
  • Speaker labels — "You:" vs "Contact:" in transcript
  • Searchable — find calls by transcript content

Call History

Sidebar → Call History (Phone icon)

  • All inbound and outbound calls
  • Duration, recording, transcript
  • Filter by: contact, date, duration, recorded/not

Setup

VoIP provider

Settings → Phone Calls → Provider Configuration:

  1. Connect your VoIP provider (Spun uses built-in WebRTC or external SIP)
  2. Set your caller ID number
  3. Configure routing rules (business hours, forwarding)

Requirements

  • Browser: Chrome or Edge (WebRTC required)
  • Hardware: Microphone + speakers/headset
  • Network: Stable internet (100kbps minimum)
  • Plan: Any paid plan

Translation during calls

Combined with Translation Rooms:

  • Make a call → enable live translation
  • Speak in your language → contact hears in theirs
  • Real-time bidirectional translation
