WhatsApp Status & Channels
Spun gives you desktop-level control over two WhatsApp content features: Status (Stories) and Channels (Newsletters).
WhatsApp Status (Stories)
What is it?
WhatsApp Status is like Instagram Stories — 24-hour disappearing posts visible to your contacts. Spun lets you create and manage them from desktop.
Posting a Status
Navigate: Sidebar → Status (CircleDot icon)
Click "+ Post Status"
Choose type:
- Text — colored background + text
- Image — photo with optional caption
- Video — up to 30 seconds
Post — appears on your WhatsApp Status immediately
Binge Mode
Binge Mode lets you view all contacts' status updates in one continuous scroll — like binge-watching stories.
- Status → click "Binge Mode" toggle
- Stories play automatically, one after another
- React or reply inline
Tips
- Post during peak hours (9-11 AM, 7-9 PM local time) for maximum views
- Use text-on-color for announcements, images for products/events
- Status is visible only to contacts who have your number saved
WhatsApp Channels (Newsletters)
What is it?
WhatsApp Channels are one-way broadcast channels (like Telegram channels). Followers can read your posts but can't reply. Think: company newsletter via WhatsApp.
Managing Channels in Spun
- Navigate: Sidebar → Channels (Radio icon)
- View your channels — see all channels linked to your number
- Post to channel:
- Click on a channel → compose message
- Add media (images, videos, documents, polls)
- Schedule posts for later
- View analytics — followers, post views, reactions
Channel vs Campaign
| Channel | Campaign | |
|---|---|---|
| Type | One-way broadcast | Direct message |
| Reach | Followers (opted-in) | Your contact list |
| Reply | Cannot reply | Can reply |
| Format | Posts (like feed) | Normal chat messages |
| Limit | Unlimited posts | 256 recipients (free) |
| Best for | News, updates, content | Personalized outreach |
Creating a WhatsApp Channel
Channels are created in WhatsApp itself — Spun manages existing ones:
- Open WhatsApp on your phone → Updates → Channels → "+"
- Create your channel
- It automatically appears in Spun → Channels
Best practices
- Post 2-3x per week — too often and followers leave
- Use polls — engagement is 5x higher than text-only
- Pin important posts — stays at the top of your channel
- Share the invite link via campaigns to grow followers
