Labels & Auto-Labels
Scenario: You have 500 conversations and need to find all "Support requests" instantly. With labels and AI auto-labeling, Spun categorizes every incoming message automatically — you just review and approve.
Prerequisites
- Any Spun plan (labels are available on all plans)
- AI auto-labeling uses tokens from your AI allowance
Creating labels
- Open the Labels panel from the sidebar.
- Click "+ New Label".
- Name it (e.g., "Support", "VIP", "Hot Lead").
- Choose a color and optional emoji icon.
- Save.
Applying labels manually
- Single chat: Right-click a conversation → Apply Label, or use the label icon in the chat header.
- Multiple chats: Select several conversations (checkbox mode) → Bulk Actions → Apply Label.
- From contact drawer: Open contact details → Labels section → Add/remove.
AI Auto-Labeling
Let AI categorize new messages automatically:
- Go to Labels → Auto-Label Settings.
- Enable auto-labeling for specific labels.
- Define the intent or criteria: e.g., "Apply 'Support' when the message asks for help or reports a problem."
- Choose the mode:
- Auto-apply — AI labels immediately, you review later
- Suggest — AI suggests, you approve/reject
TIP
Start with "Suggest" mode to build confidence in AI accuracy before switching to auto-apply.
Bulk labeling
For organizing existing conversations:
- Open the chat list.
- Enter selection mode (checkbox icon at top).
- Select conversations (or "Select All" matching current filter).
- Click Bulk Actions → Apply Label.
- Choose one or more labels to apply.
Perspectives
Perspectives are label-based views that filter your entire inbox:
- Create a perspective from the filter bar.
- Combine labels (e.g., "VIP" + "Unresolved").
- Save as a named perspective.
- Switch between perspectives to focus on different workloads.
Label rules
Automate label management with rules:
- "If no reply within 24 hours, apply 'Needs Follow-up'"
- "If message contains 'invoice', apply 'Billing'"
- "If from saved filter 'Hebrew speakers', apply 'Hebrew'"
Pro tips
- Translated label names: Labels can have translations so team members see them in their interface language.
- DNS (Do Not Send) list: A special system label that prevents campaigns from reaching opted-out contacts.
- Keep In Touch: Set per-label outreach thresholds for automatic follow-up surfacing.
- Segmentation: Labels are the primary building block for campaign segments.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| AI labels are inaccurate | Refine your intent description; review and correct to train the system |
| Can't see auto-label settings | Ensure you're on Pro or Power plan |
| Bulk label is slow | Large selections are processed in batches — wait for completion |
